Mazel Henry Hammond 73, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. Mazel lived all of his in Rupert, Idaho.
He was born to Mazel & Alma Broadhead on June 1, 1950. He later changed his name to Hammond. Mazel was the oldest of six children. He attended Rupert schools, graduating in 1969 from Minico High School.
Mazel worked for J.R. Simplot, Kraft and on his farm. He worked for Minidoka Irritation District for 34 years. He was water master for 15 of those years. He loved working with the farmers.
Mazel had many friends and enjoyed going to Kings Café to have coffee and breakfast. He enjoyed visiting with Lucky and Jerry.
He is preceded in death by his late wife Sherri (Hieb) Hammond. His parents and stepfather, 1 sister 2 brothers and his daughter Candice.
He is survived by his wife Shyla, daughter Casi (Shawn) Millspaugh. His stepchildren Gelina (Matt) Timmons, Brandi Molina, Wesley Burr, William (Amber) Burr, Karisa Tingey. His sister Mary (Dan) Henderson, Mike Hammond. 25 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He loved them all very much and he will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2024, at the Rupert 7th Ward Chapel (324 E. 18th Street). A viewing for family and friends will be held 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday March 13, 2024, at Hansen Mortuary and an hour prior to the service at the church. Services will conclude with burial at the Rupert Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
