Consuelo Ramirez - Ponce

Consuelo Ponce Ramirez, 85, passed away, Friday December 8th, 2023, at Countryside Care in Rupert, Idaho.

Consuelo was born on September 24th, 1938, in Pretoria Michoacan, Mexico to Jose and Sofia Ponce. She was the eldest of one sister raised in Michoacan. At a very young age she worked with her father on the farm in Mexico. On February 8th, 1958, aged 20, Consuelo married Jose Ramirez from Pretoria, Michoacan. They had been married for 63 years. Together they had 8 children who were the most important part of Consuelo’s life.

While living in Mexico, Consuelo worked raising farm animals, grew crops, and helped her husband raise cattle. Consuelo and her husband Jose made a difficult decision to move to the United States in pursuit of a better life for her and her family. Consuelo worked in potato plants until she retired. She was a hard worker and self-motivated worker. She had built and maintained great relationships with her coworkers.

Consuelo loved traveling to her hometown in Mexico during the winter months. Consuelo loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening. She and her husband always grew a beautiful and successful garden. She loved flowers and always grew a beautiful, colorful flower garden. Consuelo enjoyed raising and taking care of farm animals. Consuelo enjoyed cooking and spending time with family, laughing, and always smiling. She was a loving, caring person, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and was always thinking of others first. She was a compassionate person and never hesitated to help her family or others. Consuelo was an amazing loving mother to her children and grandchildren. Consuelo will be deeply missed by her loving family.

Consuelo is survived by her children: Alicia Ruiz (Gerardo), Hector Ramirez (Felipa), Adan Ramirez, Heriberto Ramirez (Eva), Guadalupe Ramirez, Martha Ruiz (Rafael), Margarita Ramirez (Francisco), Yolanda Villalobos (Gabino), her adored grandchildren and great grandchildren, siblings: Luz Cordova, as well as her nieces, and nephews.

Consuelo is preceded in death by her husband Jose Ramirez, father Jose Ponce, mother Sofia Tellez, granddaughters Sofia Ramirez and Melissa Ruiz.

A Viewing and Rosary will be held on Tuesday December 12th, 2023, from 5:00 p.m.to 7:00 p.m. at Hansen’s Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday December 13th, 2023, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Rupert, burial will follow the service at Rupert Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
