Max Ramirez Castañeda

Mar. 22, 1972 - Jul. 1, 2026

Date of Service: Jul. 17, 2026

RUPERT – Max Ramirez Castañeda, age 54, of Rupert, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from complications at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Max left behind his wife, Julie; his five children, Donovan (Holly), Nicholas, Macie (Cesar) Manrique, Anthony, and Uriah; two step-daughters, Lourdes Raybal, and Alyiah Raybal; his grandchildren, Jayson, Emalie, Mila, and Luna (Donovan), Ella, Evelyn, and Jaxtin (Macie); six brothers and four sisters, Ramon Jr. (Christina), Juan (Tammy Schlueter), Frank (Kathy), MaryLou (Saul) Rios, Norma (Joe) Sanchez, Annette (Tony) Aleman, Leeroy (Catha), Paul (Patricia), Tony, and Belinda (Jose) Ontiveros; as well as many nieces and nephews who he loved and adored; and Max’s two dogs, who will miss him dearly, Duke and Bear.

The family would like to give a big thank you from the bottom of our hearts to: Rick Rivera, Sylvia Ochoa, Minidoka Memorial Hospital and the staff of the University of Utah Hospital.

In his spare time Max loved to go riding on his side by side with his niece and nephew Jerica and Luis Dominguez. He loved to play baseball, go camping, and fishing. Max loved a good BBQ, mastering his smoker for that perfect rib. But most of all he loved hanging out with family and friends, always the life of the party.

He had a smile that could brighten a room and a heart of gold. He would give you the shirt off his back or drop everything to come help you fix your car. Max will be dearly missed by his family and by the many friends who became his family throughout his life.

Max was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Amelia Castañeda, his brother-in-law, Tony Aleman; his sisters-in-law, Janet Castañeda and Marylou Castañeda; his uncle, Abraham Castañeda; and his grandmother, Isabel Castañeda.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, July 17, at Hansen Mortuary, located at 710 6th Street, in Rupert with Rick Tundag officiating.

A viewing for family and friends will be held from 5 until 7p.m. Thursday, July 16, at Hansen Mortuary, 710 6th Street, in Rupert and from 2 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service on Friday.

Urn placement will follow at a later date at the Rupert Cemetery.
