Frank Miller

Sep. 24, 1932 - Feb. 18, 2018

Frank Pete Miller Sr., 85, of Rupert, Idaho, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, February 18, 2018, with his wife of 42 years by his side.

Frank was born in Grand Island, Nebraska, on September 24, 1932, to William Russell Miller and Pearl Ollie Ankney, the second of six children. The family moved to Dillon, Montana, when Frank was around the age of eight. While in Dillon, Frank enlisted into the Navy and served from October 23, 1951, until November 4, 1955, serving in the Korean War. He was aboard the USS Philippine Sea when the Korean War ended. While in the service he was also in a car accident which claimed the life of his beloved mother; she was buried on his 21st birthday. During Frank’s life he lived in numerous states including Nebraska, California, Utah, Montana, and Idaho.

Frank married Katherine Baker on May 15, 1965, and they had five children: Frank “Pete”, Harold Arthur, Fredrick Paul, Kimberly Joy, and Francine Pearl. They later divorced in January 1975. He then met the one that he would spend the rest of his life with while working at Hill Air Force Base in Utah where he was employed from 1969-1982 until his retirement. Lorraine Ann Hoggan and Frank were married on October 17, 1975, in Brigham City, Utah. A year later they were sealed together in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together they had two daughters: Laura Amelia and Lorraine “Ann”.

Frank enjoyed woodworking, construction and gardening. He was a member of the Gold Prospectors of America Club, and enjoyed trying his hand at gold panning. He was always happy to lend a hand to family and friends working on various projects. His favorite pastime was watching westerns on television which he referred to as “gun smoke”, and he was a big fan of country music and Elvis. Frank was an avid story teller, telling stories of his childhood and all his many adventures and experiences through the years. He also loved being a grandfather and always cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents William and Pearl, his brother Harold, his sister Melinda, his son Harold and his furry companion Shadow.

Frank is survived by his wife Lorraine; his siblings Bill (Delores), Virginia, and Kenneth (Donna); his children Pete (Dena) Miller, Fred (Claudia) Miller, Kimberly Miller, Francine Miller, Laura (Mike) Estes, and Ann (Tyson) Lanes; his grandchildren Kelsey, Colton, Zane, Dustin, Sierra, Cody, Landyn, and Lyric.

Cremation has taken place and a private family memorial will be held at a future date. Services are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
