Robert “Dean” Hurst – Huston Texas

Robert “Dean” Hurst graduated from this earthly existence on February 8, 2018 in Houston, Texas.

Dean was born on October 5, 1949 to Harold Robert Hurst and Irene Allen Hurst. He was survived by his wife of 45 years, Janice of Bay City, Texas, his son Mark Aaron (Diana), his daughters, Sarah Elizabeth (Maneesh) Kumar and Ally Ann. (Benjamin) Howington. He was called Poppa by his 7 amazing grandchildren, Kai Lynn, Isabella Karina, Jakob Aaron, Jackson Cy, Lila Jane, Alice Clare and Georgia Kate. He is also survived by sister in law, Jeri (E.J.) Thormaehlen.

He was preceded in death by his father, beloved grandma Nancy, and his other special grandparents and in-laws. He is survived by his mother, Irene, brothers Tim (Becky), Rick (Trish), and sister Cindy (Hazen Kelly) Hutchinson. He has numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and a very special friend named Tom who lives in Scotland.

Dean was a proud graduate of Minico class of ‘67. He graduated from Brigham Young University in ‘73. He served a 2 1/2 year mission in the Swedish mission. Upon graduation he was employed by Amoco Oil Co. who was merged with BP Oil Co. He loved his work in human resources and was successful and well respected. He was a man of honesty and integrity. He worked for 31 years until he realized he could be playing golf. This he did for 7 years/6 days a week. He loved the church and reading the scriptures. Among his many callings his favorite was serving in the Houston and Twin Falls temples.

He and Janice had many opportunities to travel the European continent, the Caribbean, and Mexico. His favorite spot was the North Shore of Kauai, Hawaii because of the golf.

Dean’s career took his family all over the U.S. but Idaho was home.
He will be missed by family and friends all over the country.

A celebration of his life will be held 11:00 a.m. February 24, 2018 at Hansen Mortuary in Rupert. A graveside service will follow at Declo Cemetery and then a lunch for family and out of town friends at the Declo LDS church. Services are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
