RUPERT – José Juárez Ponce, 66, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on December 10, 1959, in Coeneo, Michoacán, Mexico, to José Juárez and Serafina Ponce.

José spent his early years in Mexico before eventually making Rupert, Idaho, his home. Rupert is where he built the life he was so proud of, raising his family, making lifelong friendships, and became known as a hardworking man with a kind heart. The values he learned growing up stayed with him throughout his life and could be seen in the way he treated others and cared for his family.

On December 17, 1983, José married the love of his life, Lilia Juárez Ruiz. Together they shared more than 42 years of marriage and built a home filled with love, sacrifice, and devotion. José worked at Hansen Farms for nearly 40 years. He was respected for his dependability, his dedication, and the pride he took in his work. Providing for his family was one of his greatest accomplishments, and he never hesitated to work hard for those he loved.

Anyone who knew José knew he could make people laugh. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a stubborn personality that became one of the things his family loved most about him. He enjoyed the simple things in life, especially packing up the family and driving to the mountains or the river to spend the day together. Those trips became some of the family’s most treasured memories. More than anything, José loved being with the people he loved. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

José is survived by his beloved wife, Lilia Juárez Ruiz; his children, Jesús Juárez, who remains missing and is forever held in the hearts of his family, José Juárez Jr., Erika Juárez, and Guadalupe (Juárez) Marin; his cherished granddaughters, Cristina Vargas, Yasmin Vargas, and Jimena Vargas; as well as many nieces, nephews; cousins; extended family members, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, José Juárez and Serafina Ponce; his brother, Salvador Juárez; and his sisters, Rosario Gil and Salud Saldaña.

Although our hearts are broken, we are grateful for the years we were blessed to share with José. He taught us the value of hard work, the importance of family, and how laughter could brighten even the hardest days. His memory will live on in every family gathering, every drive through the mountains, every day spent by the river, and in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, located at 802 F. street, in Rupert, with Rev. Father Camilo Garcia as celebrant. Burial will follow at the Rupert Cemetery.

A vigil will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, with recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m., at Hansen Mortuary, located at 710 6th Street in Rupert.

RUPERT – José Juárez Ponce, de 66 años, falleció en paz el 22 de junio de 2026, rodeado del amor de su familia. Nació el 10 de diciembre de 1959 en Coeneo, Michoacán, México, hijo de José Juárez y Serafina Ponce.

José pasó sus primeros años en México antes de establecer finalmente su hogar en Rupert, Idaho. Fue ahí donde construyó la vida de la que se sentía tan orgulloso, formando una familia, cultivando amistades que duraron toda la vida y siendo conocido como un hombre trabajador y de gran corazón. Los valores que aprendió desde pequeño lo acompañaron durante toda su vida y se reflejaban en la manera en que trataba a los demás y cuidaba de su familia.

El 17 de diciembre de 1983 contrajo matrimonio con el amor de su vida, Lilia Juárez Ruiz. Juntos compartieron más de 42 años de matrimonio, construyendo un hogar lleno de amor, sacrificio y dedicación. José trabajó en Hansen Farms durante casi 40 años, donde fue reconocido por ser un hombre responsable, trabajador y comprometido. Se sentía orgulloso de poder sacar adelante a su familia y nunca dudó en esforzarse para brindarles una mejor vida.

Quienes tuvieron la dicha de conocer a José saben que siempre tenía una sonrisa y una broma para hacer reír a los demás. Tenía un gran sentido del humor y un carácter terco que, con el tiempo, se convirtió en una de las cualidades más queridas por su familia. Disfrutaba de las cosas sencillas de la vida, especialmente de llevar a su familia a pasear a las montañas o a los ríos para pasar el día juntos. Esos momentos se convirtieron en algunos de los recuerdos más valiosos que hoy atesoran sus seres queridos. Pero, por encima de todo, José disfrutaba estar rodeado de su familia. Fue un esposo, padre, abuelo, hermano, tío y amigo amoroso, cuyo cariño permanecerá para siempre en el corazón de quienes lo conocieron.

A José le sobreviven su amada esposa, Lilia Juárez Ruiz; sus hijos, Jesús Juárez, quien permanece desaparecido y siempre ocupa un lugar en el corazón de su familia, José Juárez Jr., Erika Juárez y Guadalupe (Juárez) Marin; sus queridas nietas, Cristina Vargas, Yasmin Vargas y Jimena Vargas; además de numerosos sobrinos; primos; familiares y amigos que siempre conservarán su recuerdo.

Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, José Juárez y Serafina Ponce; su hermano, Salvador Juárez; y sus hermanas, Rosario Gil y Salud Saldaña.

Aunque nuestros corazones están destrozados por su partida, damos gracias a Dios por los años que nos permitió compartir con José. Nos enseñó el valor del trabajo, la importancia de la familia y que una sonrisa podía alegrar incluso los días más difíciles. Su recuerdo vivirá para siempre en cada reunión familiar, en cada viaje hacia las montañas, en cada día junto al río y en el corazón de todos los que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerlo y amarlo.

La misa de funeral se celebrará el miércoles 1 de julio de 2026 a las 10:00 a.m. en la iglesia católica St. Nicholas, ubicada en el 802 de F Street en Rupert, oficiada por el reverendo padre Camilo García. El sepelio tendrá lugar a continuación en el cementerio de Rupert.

Se llevará a cabo un velatorio el martes 30 de junio de 5:00 p.m. a 7:00 p.m., con el rezo del Santo Rosario a partir de las 6:00 p. m., en la funeraria Hansen Mortuary, situada en el 710 de 6th Street en Rupert.
