Lila Harris

Lila Mae (Stanger) Harris, 95, died Tuesday morning, January 16th, at 6:30 am, in Lewiston, Idaho at the home of her daughter, Paula (Harris) Marley and Paula’s husband, Kent Marley.

Lila was born in Oakley, Idaho, February 19, 1928, to Thomas Stanger and Ida Clarice Stanger. She married Wayne Thomas Harris in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Idaho Falls temple on November 7, 1946.

At the time of her death, Lila was living in Lewiston, Idaho. Former residences include Boise, Idaho, at the home of her daughter Glenda (Harris) Harris and Glenda’s husband, Dan Harris, Burley, Idaho, Pocatello, Idaho, and Oakley, Idaho.

Lila was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne T. Harris, her two infant sons, Phillip Wayne and Bradford Jay, her granddaughter, Tina Marley, and great granddaughter Lily Christine Harris.

She is survived by her four daughters, Paula Marley (Kent), Lewiston, Dianne Salisbury (Richard), Boise, Glenda Harris (Dan), Boise and Peggy Hales (Gary) Orem, Utah. Lila is survived by 20 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

She worked at Simplot’s for several years, and then worked many years in the family cattle feed business her husband and brother-in-law owned.

Lila loved to camp and fish. She bowled in several women’s leagues, and sewed many items of clothing for her children and grandchildren. She was a great cook and always fed anyone who came to her home. She never started to eat a meal until she could see that everyone else at the table had all they wanted first. She did this her entire life.

Her family is forever grateful for the loving care given by Glenda and Dan Harris and Paula and Kent Marley for the last 14 years. Though she enjoyed good health into her 90’s, she had many needs that were attended to by those with whom she lived. Glenda and Dan had her for about 13 years and Paula and Kent had her through the very difficult, last year and a half.

Graveside services will be held  at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday January 24, 2024 at the Paul Cemetery. Viewing for family and friends will be held 10:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. at the Hansen Mortuary 710 6th street Rupert Idaho. Services will conclude with a dedicatory prayer provided by Dan Harris at the cemetery arrangements are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
