Rupert - Raymond David Lowry 1931-2018

Our dear father, Raymond David Lowry, 86, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2018 in Rupert, Idaho. Born February 13, 1931 in Manti, Utah to David Harold and Alta Bartholomew Lowry. Raymond was a quiet, kind soul who loved his family and was a devoted son to his parents. He attended schools in Manti then married Joyce Henrie in Provo, Utah. He moved his young family from Manti to Mt. Pleasant, Utah in 1951 to help run a family business, Lowry’s Café, for almost 16 years where they raised a family of five children. Joyce and Raymond divorced in 1969.

He moved to Oakley, Idaho where he worked as a cook for a few years then was hired at Ore Ida potato plant where he met Afton Koch who he married in 1978. Ray retired from Ore Ida in 1996 after 23 years. Afton and Raymond lived in Rupert, Idaho the rest of their lives.

Raymond had many interests but loved everything about cars and woodworking the most. He did not really get to use his woodworking skills and enjoy them until later in his life. He spent his retirement making dollhouses, intricate little wooden shoes, boots and many other things for family and grandchildren. Afton and Raymond were inseparable. They spent many years caring for their elderly mothers and were devoted caretakers. We know he is happy to finally be with his loved ones on the other side. We love you dad and grandpa and will miss you more than you will ever know.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Gayland, Shannon and Phillip, wife Afton and first wife Joyce.

He is survived by his children: Peggy Staker (Larry), Wesley Lowry (Judy), David Lowry (Sue), Lynette Southwick (Dan), Bart Lowry, Delno Koch (Sandy), Dennis Koch, Deloy Koch, 16 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Hansen Mortuary 710 6th Street in Rupert, Idaho. Services will conclude with burial In the Paul Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary. Online condolences may be left at hansen-mortuary.com

Raymond and his family would like to thank the caring nurses at the Countryside Care & Rehabilitation Center, as well as many friends, and caregivers who took care of him in his last years of life.

Condolences for Raymond David Lowry

From Emily:
I am very sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you in this difficult time. I hope you may find comfort at Revelation 21:4, “And he (God) will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” We can look forward to the time when God will take away all reasons for distress and he even gives us a hope of a resurrection. (Acts 24:15) If you’d like to learn more about this beautiful hope, feel free to visit JW.org.
