Cheryle Valae Tracy Baker

August 6, 1939 – August 6, 2017

Cheryle Valae Tracy Baker passed away on August 6, 2017, her 78th birthday. She was born in Rupert, Idaho to Dorothy Catmull Welch and Bud Mahlon Welch. Her father passed away when she was 3 years old. Her mother then married H. Lester Tracy, who adopted her and sealed the family together.

She graduated from Minico High School in the infamous Class of ‘57 where she was in many operettas and in the Glee Club. Following High School, she attended Weber College in Ogden Utah where she received her degree in Cosmetology and made the President’s List. After graduation, she found a job in Logan Utah where she met Garth Baker. They were married in February of 1960 in the Logan LDS Temple. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1990.

Cheryle was a talented cosmetologist, seamstress and artist. She always stood true to her faith as a valiant member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she held many callings and was a great example of strength and courage to her family.

Cheryle is survived by her three sons Scott (Delores) Baker of Riverton, UT, Darren (Vanessa) Baker of Heyburn and Kevin Baker of Boise. Her grandchildren Stephen (Amy) Baker of Las Vegas, NV, Lindsay Baker of Riverton, UT, Emily (Sage) Frederickson of Herriman, UT, Mikel Ann Baker and Bobbi Baker of Heyburn and great-grandson Gordon Baker. Brother David (Tami) Tracy of Burley and sister Charlane (Oscar) Lucardie of South Jordan, UT

The family would like to express their thanks to her many friends: Joanne, Marguerite, Alice, Leola, Lillian, and Claudia, and her close friend for many years Loa Mae Rutschke. They would also like to thank the staff at Parke View in Burley for their care over the last few months.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017 at the Rupert LDS 4th Ward Building 26 S 100 W. Rupert West stake center. Viewing for family and friends will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2017 at the mortuary. Services will conclude with burial at the Rupert Cemetery under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.

Condolences for Cheryle Baker

From Sylvia Catmull Nichols:
Cheryle was my second cousin and a big part of the Catmull family. When we visited Rupert she was always upbeat, happy and very welcoming. She was truly a lovely person.
From Pamala D. Ruby:
Dear Delores & Scott: Sorry for your loss I did know your mom she was a lovely lady. I never put everything together until now you were so blessed to have her for your MOM. Blessings and prayers for your family at this time. It truly is a small world.
From David Senecal:
The Bakers lived across the street from my family when I was in high School - truly loved and have the fondest memories of Cheryle, and the whole family as myself and the oldest boys went through high school. The best memories we look back on are the ones we took for granted - Thank you Cheryle and god bless
