Russell Leonard Smith 92 of Burley, Idaho passed away Wednesday May 10, 2017 in Pocatello. Russell was born to Mabel and Leonard Smith on May 6, 1925 in Twin Falls Idaho. He was married to Dorothy Leona Horn in 1946 and later to Elda Harding on September 21, 1973. Russell moved from Twin Falls Idaho when he was 2 years old to Riverside City and graduated High School there. He joined the army in 1944 during 2nd world war and was there till 1946. He received 3 purple hearts.
He worked as a construction worker and a freezer manager for Simplot’s in Heyburn Idaho for 21 years. He was a member of the Methodist Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, hunting camping and boating.
He is survived by a son Richard R. Smith a grandson Travis Smith, a brother Dale Smith, a sister Barbara Smith Speck and 4 step children from his 2nd wife Elda Smith and his companion Brenda Adams . He is preceded in death by both of his parents, both wives and a step son.
Grave side services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the Pleasant View Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Mini-Cassia Veterans. Services are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary. Online condolences may be left at hansen-mortuary.com

Just saw Uncle Russel's obituary. He was always a very kind man. Last time I saw him was at my grandma, Bertha Lish's funeral. We are sorry for you loss, and we will always think of Russell with love and kindness.
